Friday Miscellany: Burda 08/2017

I've stopped doing pattern release posts as I find Big4 are thoroughly discussed on PR and bloggers cover Indie patterns. T. Sedai covers Burda monthly.

But this August Burda.

THIS. AUGUST. BURDA! August-October are almost always my favorite months. April often has some real gems for me too. But this August issue tho... :-p

The first pattern I noticed and decided I NEEDED when the preview came out.
Perfect fall coat. Perfect!!
These two are the same, obviously, but I feel they read differently.
I just love both the top and tunic.

Burda August is synonymous with "Jacket"!

This is gorgeous.
This could be a nice fall coat too. Such pretty details.
I don't need another moto
(I've surprisingly discovered that I like them in theory but don't wear the ones I have)

It's just so pretty.
It has lots of details (tie neck, puff sleeve, cuff, gathers) but they don't overwhelm.

Give me a wrap dress anyday...and I love these tucks and the extra long belt.
This feels very vintage and perhaps a bit too dressed up for my day-to-day.
But is it not BEAUTIFUL!? Sleek. Stylish. Chic. I could go on!
I love Burda for these kinds of super interesting details.
I'd be afraid to sew it though because of their directions. Maybe it isn't as complicated as it looks...
I think this is a plus pattern. I'd love this in a sweaterknit...with booties??! Swoon.

A nice basic pant, but I am feeling the side zip lately.
I want this skirt. I want it in black. I want it with a metal zipper.
But I want this TOOOOOO! Lol!

See the entire preview here (Burda's Russian site is better!). Yes, there are actually other patterns! :) Only a couple though; it's mostly variations of what's here...there were a handful that were not as awe-inducing as these!

every month I find I like Burda more and more. They include such interesting details and look more like fashion to me. But give me spring/summer any day, my preferred sewing season. Plus it was 107 in the shade here yesterday so coats are the last thing on my mind !!!

HA! It's 64 here today! We're not supposed to see 80 again until Wednesday or Thursday. I'll be moving on to fall sewing by August. It'll be a matter of time before we start our nosedive :)

I am so loving Burda and fall is my favorite season so I'm always itching for those issues.

Wow, they have some really beautiful patterns. My fave is the neck-tie dress. You gotta make that one. It has such great details.

Initially, I wasn't super excited by this issue when I saw the modelled shots, but idk, when I saw the technical drawings & garment photos today I was like, NO WAIT, I want THAT, and THAT, and ALL OF THOSE. So now I am VERY excited by this issue! Most of my picks are the same as yours although I have a horror of cold shoulder tops and also love one of the other skirts.

That red jacket... *SWOON*!! (And given how hot blooded I am, that's probably what I would do if I were to wear it, ha!) I also like the zipper skirt a lot. The pink pussybow dress could easily become very "little house on the prairie", it needs someone with more attitude than I have, methinks. ;-)

It's so pretty! Vogue 9201 caught my eye last year and there's some elements of both that I like. Will have to see!

Exactly! THe initial photos made me go, hmmm. Cool. The tech drawings made me go crazy! :)

I love cold shoulder garments! hahaha!

Hahahaha! I think fabric choice will really count with that pattern. It has to be very flowy!

These are all interesting! I really liked your take on the Big4 pattern announcements because you have an interesting point of view. So sorry you're not doing them anymore.

LOL! Because my lifestyle has changed to more of a casual one, the Moto Jacket is the only item that caught my eye! But your review had me intriqued throughout your post! Thank you for sharing!

I love your Burda reviews (and actually love your reviews of other new releases too - I tend not to go on to PR very often). There are some gorgeous designs there!
Interesting re you discovering you don't actually wear moto jackets. There are a few styles of garments that I totally love when I see the patterns or see them on others, but know that I will never wear them myself. Often you don't find that out until you've made it though!

I own FOUR! Two that I made and two (not inexpensive!!) that I bought. And I very rarely wear them. And when I do I'm usually "making myself" wear them.

Sigh. I do love the look though! :)

:) That's what makes the online community awesome. I don't make vintage looks but I do love looking at all the details when people make them. So you rock that moto!

RIGHT!!?!

That jacket is a definite must have. Maybe not this fall but it shall be added!!

Ah not much here for an island girl! :)

I always think about it and figure someone else has it covered :)

Yes, those patterns are fabulous and that first one, the coat - wow, it's beautiful!

Yes, these are great patterns - I'll look out for this copy when it hits our shores in a few months time. Some Burda's are not worth buying, but then some are. This is one that is worth buying.

Here I was getting excited about July's issue finally showing up in my mailbox this week and now you've got me excited about August--and I can't even see the pictures. lol

Oh yes this does look like a fantastic issue. I can't wait to have a go at that interesting dress with the draped waist detail.
