This month I sewed 11.75 yards:
- Butterick 6378 top - 2 yards
- printed polyester peachskin
- elastic
- Burda 7136 shirt - 2 yards
- border print cotton shirting
- buttons
- Ottobre 2/2015 tee - 1.25 yards
- Burda 5/2018 # top - 1.25 yards
- eyelets, ribbon
- McCall's 7757 top - 1.5 yards
- elastic
- McCall's 7757 pants - 2.5 yards
- elastic
- True Bias Ogden cami - 1.25 yard (the pattern WAY overstates yardage needed)
FAIL: I'd have to call the Ottobre tee a fail for now. I will try the pattern again though...one more time. But it is not at all what I envisioned. Mainly a fabric choice fail.
Accomplishments: Playing with the border print on the shirt!! And trying out a new silhouette for me in those McCall's pants. Not something I typically navigate to. I'd also give myself back pats for reworking that pattern until it worked for me. I don't have a lot of patience for that sort of thing in my sewing. I'm getting better though at discerning if it's worth it or not.
I did buy fabric this month...even with last month's bloodbath. LOL!! Those Fabric Mart precuts were too good to pass up. For several of the cuts I ended up paying $1.60/yd. For good fabric?!?! I had to!
This month I purchased :mumble, mumble 43.5 yards of fabric: I purchased 36 yds from FM (shirting and precuts) and 7.5 yards from Fabric dot com of which I sewed 6.5 yards already! WIN?? LOL!!!!
Sooooo I'm at IN: 154.5 yards and OUT: 57.75 for the year. Oops. It was the NYC/PA trip that did me in!
Before I went out of town I started tracing the coat from Burda 8/2017. And then spring definitively showed up. Now I need to get the trench coat done. The wool coat will have to wait :/
May plans:
New Look 6107 (actually started in April; I normally count it in the month the fabric is cut...)Burda 4/2018 trench coat (shout out to Carolyn for picking up more buckles for me from M&J!)
Something for my mom and IDK if she reads the blog still so I won't post it until I get it done and in her hands.
TB Ogden v2 and 3 hopefully (v2 to test out the tweaks I want to make and v3 in my Kelly green silk)
Burda 1/2018 in black and white cotton pique
Burda 3/2018 shirtdress in black shirting. I have not stopped thinking about this dress since the preview in February! And there are some cute versions on the Russian site.
McCall's 7745 in a black floral rayon challis and as a skirt in a black/purple/white plaid shirting.
That's kind of a big list and I'm okay if I don't get to ALL of them. They are listed in order of my plans to sew them, for a couple of reasons.
1) It's okay if I don't get to the dress/skirt until June because they are warm weather garments and we're just beginning nice weather.
2) serger thread color. LOL! On the silk Ogden, I'll do French seams.
ME MADE MAY!
Yay! I've been taking daily outfit photos anyway (okay, I sucked the last half of April - it's the travel's fault!) so I'm in there...I, KS, plan to wear at least one handmade item everyday during the month of May and to wear completely handmade outfits at least 2 days per week. I also plan to not have any repeat outfits (repeating individual garments is okay).
I have a lot of RTW pants and jackets that I love so while daily handmades aren't much of a challenge, going full "me-made" a couple times a week will be slightly more challenging. I'll post daily IG pics and round up here weekly perhaps. We'll see.

Ughhh I gotta mail those to you! This week I promise!!!
Oh what pretty May Plans.. You REALLY make me want to sew.smile.
Happy sewing.. and I look forward to seeing these makes.
Your May plans are heavenly!! And oh to have your fabric stash, lol! FM does make it especially hard when the pre-cuts make the per yard price so inexpensive. I am excited to see your MMMay posts! One day I will get to wearing all me mades (on a consistent basis), so I think it is cool that you are doing that for May.
Hahahaha! The fact that you got them for me is a HUGE solid. Thanks again!
Thank you Judy!!
It's soooo hard! It's so easy to have a 20lb box show up on your doorstep. LOL!!!
Your handmade wardrobe is really coming along. You've been great at finding the styles you like and making them work. Congrats again on your first MMM :-D
I already bought fabric for that Burda trench too. Even if I won’t have any time to make it for a few months... Your plans look so fun, can’t wait to see what you do!
I love reading your monthly summaries. =) I'm looking forward to reading about the Burda trench coat.
